Description
The photo that is the basis for this textured artwork of the landmark Eiffel Tower was taken during my winter visit in January 2010. But the textured work was done much later. I think in some way it speaks to the dreamy feeling I have when I look back on my short stay in Paris. I was astounded by what a visually rich place Paris was. I knew the highlights that we all do, like the famous Eiffel Tower, but to see them in their Parisian setting was something entirely different. Everywhere I looked was another cityscape that begged to be captured. I have no doubt if I made it to Paris for longer than a week, I'd wear out some shoes not just walking along the historic Seine but wandering further afield into the neighborhoods of Paris.
Anyway, when I look at my pictures of Paris today, it's taken on an unreal feeling to me. It doesn't see possible I could have been somewhere so beautiful, and I do think that played into this Parisian landscape, the scenery, the skies, muted into a wash of pastel hues of pink and gold. And the famous Eiffel tower rising over the banks of the Seine and reflecting in it.. An homage to a beautiful city that I will somehow visit once more...
Note:The banks of the River Seine between the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower are part of a UNESCO designated World Heritage Site.
