Description
Years ago, I was researching nature trails in the area. At the time it was because I wanted to reconnect with a world that didn't involve bumper to bumper traffic and shopping centers. It's amazing how much what we see everyday can drive our interests. And in my case it meant I wanted the chance to enjoy nature on my days off rather than see the city.
At any rate, this was how I discovered a walking trail below Lake Lanier near the Buford Dam. This little stretch of the Chattahoochee River included a nature trail as well as a beautiful little park. I walked this area many times, but it's funny that my first walk there produced one of my most memorable images. Sometimes it truly is a matter of being there at the right moment.
I was there on that misty morning as the light came over the horizon and flooded the little river valley below. The golden light mixing with the mists from the barely visible river was truly memorable. I love how exotic it makes the little park gazebo feel. You'd almost think this was taken in the far east somewhere rather than a river bank in North Georgia. But it goes to show how beautiful our whole world is. From exotic places to well known trails, beauty is where we look for it!
